Mexican writer Alberto Chimal is author of over twenty books, including the novels Los esclavos (2009) and La torre y el jardÃn (shortlisted for the 2013 Rómulo Gallegos International Novel Prize), and the anthologies Manda fuego (2014 Colima Fiction Award), Los atacantes (2015) and, more recently, Manos de lumbre (2018). This latest work is a collection of six stories about human destruction, of others, of one's surroundings, and of oneself. In 2018 he published Cómo escribir tu propia historia, together with Raquel Castro, a creative writing manual for beginner writers; and La distante, a children's story. He talks to Miguel Ãngel Ãngeles.

Award-winning El Salvadorean journalist and writer Ãscar MartÃnez is co-author, together with his brother Juan José MartÃnez, of El niño de Hollywood (2018). The book examines the implications of the culture and foreign policy of the United States and the corruption, at state level, of El Salvador, including some of the most horrifying episodes of communal violence in the recent history of Central America. The book follows the story of Miguel Ãngel Tobar, a gang member of the Hollywood Locos faction of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 gang, uncovering the structural causes that turned a boy into a sicario. In conversation with writer Elvira Liceaga.

The Wu-Tang Clan rapper U-God was born in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up on Staten Island. He started beatboxing with the Clan member Cappadonna, and become friends with Method Man, Inspectah Deck and Raekwon. In 1992 the group, which went on to sell over 12 million albums around the world, was formed. That same year, U-God had to serve a prison sentence (until early 1993) for possession of drugs. He talks to local rappers Back, Dospe and Tha Aps in an event that celebrates hip hop culture and the links between Mexican and US music.

Celso Román studied veterinary medicine before moving into art and literature, specifically into fiction for children. He studied Arts at the National University of Colombia and at the Pratt Institute in New York. He has exhibited his sculptures in New York, San Diego and Bogotá. His literary work includes more than sixty titles of childrens literature, a number of which deal with the themes of nature and caring for the environment, such as El árbol de los tucanes (2011), Rogelio y la bolsa (2013) and Hijos de Madre Tierra (2017).

After five years exploring literature on her YouTube channel Clau Reads Books, the booktuber Claudia RamÃrez Lomelà debuts as a novelist with El prÃncipe del Sol (2018). A fantasy novel in which the winds of war are threatening the Nation of the Sun and the Kingdom of the Moon, which for centuries have lived in peace. Emil, the Sun prince, together with his best friend Elyon, must start a journey through Fenrai, to find his mother and restore the peace. Many dangers await him on the way.
