Sergio del Molino and Vicente Molina Foix in conversation with Eliezer Budasoff

In his novel El joven sin alma, Vicente Molina Foix evokes Spain in the mid-20th century and makes his protagonist -and his readers- find new life through a passion for film, poetry and life itself. The novel is enriched by the writer’s own experiences being brought up in a country where echoes of the Spanish Civil War could still be heard. Sergio del Molino covers this same Spain through the gaze of his teacher Antonio Aramayona, whose experiences form the basis of his book La mirada de los peces. These writers will talk to the Mexican journalist Eliezer Budasoff so that, by reviewing a Spain of the past, we may have a clearer view of the Spain of the present. Javier Montes and Gerardo Piña in conversation with Guillermo Núñez

In Varados en Río, a work between the travelogue and the literary essay, the Spanish writer Javier Montes writes about Rio de Janeiro. The Rio of secret pleasures of Manuel Puig; the ramshackle and hostile Rio that Rosa Chacel faced; the legendary and sophisticated Rio of the 50s, the ultramodern houses, the political intrigues, the bohemian golden age that Elizabeth Bishop met ad the painfully oblivious Rio to the photos of Stefan Zweig's suicide. In Donde el silencio se bifurca, Gerardo Piña writes a desolate and angry monologue which opens with the words “I will die soon.” This Mexican believes that the salvation to the social problems we face will come from inspiring critical thinking. Both authors will talk about their works with Guillermo Núñez.

Do machines write the novels dreamed by writers? Milton Läufer and Patricio Pron in conversation with Mónica Nepote

In contemporary literature it seems that writing becomes the main character, the center, about books that are written and that are thought about how we write. From the European avant garden, to the Brasilian concretism, the American conceptualism: proceedings such as the cut up, the appropiationm the remix etc. are practices that are shining because mobile devices and computers have a poetic potential. These gives into questions such as how to preserse and use our linguistic past and cultural inheritances whilst legal requirements are looking into collaborative and communal practices from the prespective of the market. How do we write? How is really the author? How are writers with the devices of the XXI? Event coorganized with the Centro de Cultural Digital.
